Paramedical exams





An examiner asks questions pertaining to your medical history. Including the names and addresses of any current and previous physicians, hospitalizations, diagnostic testing, and medications. It helps to have this information prior to your appointment. In addition, your height, weight, and blood pressure will be taken, and waist and chest measurements for males.




EKG/ECG





An EKG is a record of your heart's electrical activity. Ten sensors are attached to your chest around the heart area and make a wave pattern on graph paper. While it is customary for the patient to be laying down, being seated is also acceptable, as sometimes it is the best position for the workplace.



Urine Collection





Most insurance companies also require a urine sample. If you have gone to the bathroom recently, inform the examiner and they will suggest you begin drinking some water.




TVC/Peak Flow





Timed Vital Capacity or spirometry is the most common of the pulmonary function tests. It measures the amount (volume) and speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled into the sensor for as hard and long as possible. This process is repeated two more times and then recorded.



Stress EkG/Treadmill





You are required you to walk on a treadmill for a short period of time while connected to an ECG machine. while blood pressure responses are checked and recorded.
